My Photography

As a lover of offbeat attractions and lengthy road trips across the United States, I’ve developed an admiration for the novel roadside signage and architecture now characteristic almost exclusively to smaller towns and older city neighborhoods.

Distinct from the uninspired vinyl lettering and LED reader boards that stand outside most businesses today, the colorful style known as “Googie” had character. Neon arrows, sputniks and boomerangs were designed to set one motel apart from the next, unlike the soulless chains that now flank the interstate.

Sadly, much of this signage is disappearing, having fallen into disrepair or been snatched up by private collectors. So, for the past two decades, I’ve made an effort to document these vanishing works of art in a way that I hope captures their unique character.
